Inspiration.
You hear the words "Brady Bunch",
who comes to mind first? It's not Tiger, nor Alice... It's the
ever beautiful Marcia Brady. With a flip of her hair, a sweet smile
and her melodic voice, actress Maureen McCormick put her all into the
character of Marcia Brady. Once a week, Marcia touched the hearts of
millions across the country! Marcia had one of the largest fan bases
ever, with millions of fans, both boys and girls. Of course most of
the boys just wanted a date with Marcia, and most of the girls wanted to
look, act, dress and do everything like Marcia. As the country found
she had a hauntingly melodic singing voice, her fans base grew.
Those of us that remember, one half hour every Friday night, on ABC,
belonged to Marcia. What Marcia fan doesn’t remember "Oh My Nose!"
and "Davey's just so dreamy!". However, it was Jan, played by Eve
Plumb, that gave Marcia the ever present, unforgettable "Marcia! Marcia!
Marcia!".
Although Maureen McCormick has gone on to other things in
the entertainment field, still at times attempting to squash her "Brady"
background, she will never be rid of Marcia. The character of Marcia
to millions was not only a TV character, but a real life person in so many
different ways. The Marcia generation has grown to adulthood, but we
still sit with our children, as they watch Marcia continue her legacy
through syndication, and in many follow up movies starring actresses such
as Christine Taylor, Autumn Reeser, Kaley Cuoco and Leah Ayres as "take two" Marcia
look a likes. The Brady Kids cartoon, Brady Girls Get Married, Brady Bunch
Variety Hour and the Brady Brides continue the beautiful saga of Marcia.
So I say, Marcia Brady will never
die!....
